ShareTweetWhatsAppThe poker world’s eyes are turning to Las Vegas as the dates for the 2024 World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas have been announced! This third annual installment promises to be bigger and better than ever, running December 3 to 23 and culminating in the crowning of a new World Champion to close out Season XXII of the WPT.

“It’s with immense excitement that we reveal the dates for the highly anticipated 2024 WPT World Championship,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Building on the incredible momentum of previous years, we’re committed to another unforgettable December alongside the amazing Wynn Las Vegas team. Mark your calendars and brace yourselves for spectacular poker action!”

Adam PliskaAdam PliskaRyan Beauregard, executive director of poker operations at Wynn Las Vegas, echoed the enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the WPT for the third consecutive year. In the coming months, we’ll be working tirelessly to design a tournament schedule that will have poker players worldwide eager to compete.”

WPT World Championship: A Legacy of Record-Breaking Events

The inaugural 2022 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas was a smash hit, featuring $22 million in guaranteed prizes across 23 tournaments. The series centerpiece, the $10,000 buy-in WPT World Championship, made history with a $15 million guaranteed prize pool. The tournament’s overwhelming response (2,960 entrants generating a $29.01 million final prize pool) cemented its status as a landmark event, winning “Event of the Year” at the 4th annual Global Poker Awards. Canadian Eliot Hudon etched his name in poker history as the first-ever WPT World Champion, collecting a life-changing $4.14 million prize. England’s Benny Glaser scored an impressive $2.80 million for his runner-up finish.

A staggering 14 tournaments boasted prize pools of at least $1 million. While the $10,400 buy-in Main Event fell short of its ambitious $40 million guarantee, it still drew a record-breaking 3,835 entries – the largest WPT main tour field ever assembled. Dan Sepiol‘s eventual WPT World Championship win earned him a massive $5,282,954. The 2023 WPT Prime Championship also shattered records, with 10,512 entries (a $1,100 buy-in), creating the largest-ever live field for any WPT tournament. Calvin Anderson ultimately triumphed, pocketing nearly $1.4 million.
