Calvin Anderson Leads WPT Prime Championship Final 125 into Day 3 – World Poker Tour
With 128 players left in the battle for $1.38 million in the WPT Prime Championship, Calvin Anderson has the chip lead but there are some other heavy hitters in the mix heading into playdown day.
Tim Fiorvanti Dec 12, 2023 Calvin Anderson has the chip lead heading into Day 3 of the 2023 WPT Prime Championship.Monday was moving day in the hunt for the 2023 WPT Prime Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, with 125 players making it through to Day 3 and maintaining their hopes of winning the $1.38 million first-place prize.
The stars came out for this $1,100 buy-in tournament, and all you have to do to prove it is take a quick glance at the chip counts at the end of Day 2. Calvin Anderson, a two-time WSOP bracelet winner and former #1-ranked online player in the world, is one of two players to bag over 10 million chips. The other is Valeriy Pak, who won a WPT Deepstacks title in Korea in 2018.
In third place is Mukul Pahuja, who won WPT Player of the Year honors in 2014 with three WPT final tables and two runner-up finishes. He has five career WPT final tables in total.
Beyond the top three stacks lie a number of other notables with long poker resumes among the remaining field.
- Daniel Lowery, a 14-time WSOP Circuit Ring winner
- Kelly Lucas (formerly Minkin), who has two career WPT final tables
- Tom Koral, a two-time WSOP bracelet winner with over $2.7 million in lifetime earnings
- Eric Baldwin, a two-time WSOP bracelet winner who finished 2nd in the 2010 WPT Championship for over $1 million
- Nick Marchington, who finished 7th in the 2019 WSOP Main Event for $1.525 million
- Connor Drinan, a WSOP bracelet winner with over $11 million in lifetime tournament cashes
- Andrew Moreno, the 2021 Wynn Summer Classic Champion who earned $1.46 million for that win
Day 3 of the WPT Prime Championship resumes at noon local time, and they will play until they reach a final table of 6.
